Apprenticeship Scheme pilot hailed a roaring success!

We were excited to launch Targets’ Customer Service Apprenticeship Scheme’ in September 2021. The ambition was to attract and retain talent into the business whilst supporting individuals into work, helping to energize career paths in customer service.

Why it matters

Providing excellent customer outcomes is pivotal to Targets continued success. To succeed in this vital role and exceed customer expectations requires a specific skill set. Our customer service colleagues need to be great communicators, empathetic, driven and enthusiastic. The Target Apprenticeship Scheme supports individuals to develop these vital skills alongside working towards a valuable NVQ Qualification.

Recognising success

Our first cohort has graduated with flying colours. We were delighted to welcome MP Jayne Bryant to our Newport office last week as she met with our graduates to learn more about the scheme. Roger Newman, Target Group CEO and Grant Santos, CEO of our delivery partner Educ8 also joined the apprentices to celebrate their success.

We caught up with Stuart Aldridge, Apprenticeship Team Leader at Target, to learn more:

“The pilot’s been an enormous success. The graduates are doing great and have now joined the team servicing a key client. They’re already delivering fantastic customer outcomes, and confidence is growing daily. It’s been an intensive couple of months, and it’s great to see them putting their skills into action and integrating into the wider team.

Huge congratulations to Billie, Dan, Jack, Paige and Laura for their hard work and commitment and for helping to make the pilot a success. We look forward to seeing them progress in their customer service careers”.

The future for Targets Apprenticeship Scheme

The goal is to grow the Apprentice Scheme annually, introducing different job roles and functions into the mix. The initial pilot was intentionally small, with five recruits. This allowed us to test and learn what worked together.

Roger Newman, CEO of Target said:

“We’re ambitious for our apprenticeship scheme and anticipate future intakes of up to 30 recruits at a time. I look forward to seeing the scheme continue to go from strength to strength”.
