Social accountability is a key focus here at Target. As part of our continued efforts, colleagues across the business have supported charities and causes close to their hearts this year. We’ve achieved a considerable amount and thought we’d share a few highlights with you.
Partnering with the Alzheimer’s Society
We were proud to announce our charity partnership with Alzheimer’s Society in September. In October, we held our first fundraising event with them, the Memory Walk.
We also organised ‘Dementia Friends’ sessions to understand how we can support people living with Alzheimer’s in our community. We look forward to arranging more sessions in the New Year.
Fundraising for causes close to our hearts
We’ve also supported colleagues who’ve been fundraising for other charities that matter to them. Many went to extreme lengths to fundraise! Colleagues have jumped out of planes, climbed the Welsh three peaks, ran countless marathons and swam many miles!
We’re delighted to share that we’ve raised £11,645 for charity so far this year. Our goal is to reach our target of £25,000 in early 2022.
Getting involved with our communities!
Over 70 colleagues used their volunteering day in 2021. Activities varied from decorating Christmas trees, constructing raised garden beds to teaching children archery.. with a bit of dog walking thrown in for good measure! Colleagues also helped the Scouts, a cat rescue shelter and St John Cymru.
The season for giving
We’ve also supported charities providing vital work to those in need at this time of the year. We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity of our colleagues, donating Christmas presents and food to local charities and foodbanks.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our colleagues for their fantastic fundraising efforts this year. We can’t wait to get going on next year’s activities.
Until then, I’d like to wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas.
