Target Group creates some Sparkle!

Each Christmas, Target Group staff donate gifts for children who are in need of some festive cheer. The gifts are donated to South Wales charity Sparkle who distribute the gifts to children who might not otherwise receive toys and games.

This year, while people have been unable to go out to buy gifts, or haven’t been able to take donated gifts to our offices, we took the charity efforts online. Thanks to the kind donations from our wonderful colleagues, we raised an amazing £565! This fantastic sum has managed to buy over 100 selection boxes and 72 gifts including Marvel toys, remote control cars, makeup, bath and body care items, vanity cases as well as childhood favourite Lego. There were two trolleys overflowing with gifts.

Emma Evans from our Servicing team, who helped to organise and deliver the gifts said:

“Over the last year, those less fortunate and in already difficult circumstances face an even more stressful time over Christmas. As someone in a fortunate position, working and being able to give back, it was so important to me to do my best in doing just that. Sparkle is charity local to me and one that benefits dozens of communities around us. The amazing thing about this drive, is that even if Sparkle receives too many toys and gifts, nothing goes to waste. They also help others such as domestic abuse victims and families and other vital causes. If that’s not important, I don’t know what is!”

Here’s a picture of Emma, handing over the gifts, with an acute awareness of social distancing (masked up and outside so everyone was safe). The team at Sparkle had to bring out a big cage in the end to get all the gifts in. And thankfully Emma has a big car boot!

“The staff from Sparkle were full of thanks and appreciation. I later received a further text when they started going through the items thanking us for concentrating on the slightly older age range that often get overlooked during collections like this. The biggest thanks goes to everyone that donated to make this happen. It truly will make the biggest difference” continued Emma.

A big thank you to everyone who made a donation, and to Emma and the other organisers for making the time and effort to do something so kind at such a difficult time.

Well done Team Target!
