Women in Finance Charter update 2026
We signed up to the Women in Finance Charter in 2018, committing to achieve a 50/50 gender balance across our entire business, including our senior leadership population. This target reflects our dedication to ensuring equal representation, opportunity, and inclusion for all.
In 2022, women represented 30% of our senior management population and 12.5% of our Executive Committee (ExCo). Since then, we have made encouraging progress, with female representation increasing to 37% within senior management and 25% on ExCo. While we have seen a slight reduction in representation during the current reporting period, largely driven by organisational changes and reductions in overall headcount, female representation remains significantly higher than our 2022 baseline.
Creating equitable opportunities for recruitment, development and progression continues to be a key focus.
We're supporting this through:
- Mentoring and development programmes
- Robust succession planning
- Our Women in Target colleague network
- Initiatives led by Diversity, Equity and Inclusion forum
- A continued focus on inclusive recruitment and talent management practices
Our efforts have also contributed to a continued reduction in our gender pay gap, reflecting our commitment to creating a workplace where colleagues can thrive regardless of gender.
Looking ahead, we remain focused on increasing female representation at all levels, particularly within senior leadership, and on closing the gender pay gap by 2030. We recognise there is more to do, but we remain committed to building a fairer, more balanced and inclusive organisation for the future.
