Diversity matters

Why it's important to us

Diversity of thought links with innovation. Being diverse and fostering inclusion helps us make better decisions - and it's the right thing to do.

Inclusion is critical, otherwise we would just be paying lip-service to the idea of diversity. We value our colleagues and appreciate they have diverse needs, life experiences and views, something we embrace at Target.

To ensure diversity and inclusion is embedded into the business we have a Diversity & Inclusion Strategy and Committee who champion awareness and practical inclusion, providing practical support to colleagues across the business.

Diversity and Inclusion

Our Diversity and Inclusion Strategy is underpinned by 5 key pillars, which are:

Ensuring we have a gender inclusive workplace and that there are equal opportunities. Our key priority is to eliminate our Gender Pay Gap and develop more women into senior roles. We’ve formulated our approach to allow us to build on and work towards fulfilling this goal.

Ensuring we support our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender colleagues and our colleagues’ that identify as Queer, Non-Binary, Pansexual and more.

Here we look at race, ethnic origin, and religion.  Raising awareness, celebrating our diversity, and supporting our colleagues to have a great career with us.

Along with our wellbeing plan we want to make sure that our colleagues with physical and mental disabilities are supported through their career. We want to strip away taboo’s when it comes to our mental health and wellbeing.

Not just looking at our aging population and how we support them in the workplace but also how do we attract younger people into our workforce. How we create a culture where our people from different generational mixes work harmoniously and well together.
